QUALIFICATION OVERVIEW
The STADIO BCom degree will equip you with conceptual understanding, knowledge, theory, skills, methodology and capacity to function effectively in the business environment of the future. You will gain advanced management knowledge and skills and will be able to make ethical decisions in a rapidly changing business environment driven by technological advances. In the first year of study the focus is on laying a solid foundation in the supporting areas of knowledge, namely mathematical concepts and principles, statistics, legal principles, and information technology. The core areas of economics and accounting are developed up to the second year of study, while the focus is on management, entrepreneurship, and research in the third year of study. If you choose one of the seven elective majors, the third-year focus shifts to the chosen field of specialisation, while still covering strategic management, as well as the management of technology and innovation at the exit level.
Lastly, you will also get exposure to an introductory research module, as well as an extensive 25-credit project in year 3 of your studies. The project will be informed by research and aims to integrate the understanding, knowledge, theory, and skills across the core areas of study.
BUSINESS DESIGN AND INNOVATION
The STADIO BCom Honours degree with a major in Business Design and Innovation prepares you with advanced knowledge in business design, strategic management, innovation, and entrepreneurship. You will learn to identify opportunities, design innovative business models, and drive change in organisations. The research project and capstone experience will enable you to apply entrepreneurial thinking to real-world problems, fostering creativity and resilience in a competitive business landscape. Graduates are well-prepared to lead organisational transformation and develop sustainable innovations.
DIGITAL MARKETING
The STADIO BCom Honours degree with a major in Digital Marketing develops advanced expertise in market research, data analytics, and digital marketing strategies. You will learn to leverage business intelligence and digital platforms to design, implement, and evaluate innovative marketing campaigns. With a strong focus on research and application, you will be equipped to navigate the rapidly evolving digital economy, enabling you to build brand value, engage customers, and drive business growth ethically and sustainably.
GENERAL
The STADIO BCom Honours degree with a General major provides students with a broad and versatile understanding of advanced commerce concepts. You will gain knowledge and skills in market research, business intelligence and data analytics, and financial performance management. This pathway equips you with a flexible skill set to operate across multiple disciplines, making you adaptable in diverse business environments and well-prepared for leadership roles that require strategic decision-making across functional areas.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
The STADIO BCom Honours degree with a major in International Business equips you with advanced knowledge of cross-cultural communication, global negotiation, international regulations, and global economic trends. You will develop strategic management capabilities to operate effectively in the global marketplace, analysing international risks and opportunities. The programme prepares you for leadership in multinational corporations, trade organisations, and policy environments, with the ability to apply research-driven solutions to complex international challenges.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The STADIO BCom Honours degree with a major in Project Management will strengthen your expertise in programme and portfolio management, strategic management, and advanced project methodologies. You will gain a deep understanding of how to manage complex projects across industries, integrating people, processes, and technology. The research and capstone components will enhance your ability to apply theory to practice, enabling you to lead projects successfully, optimise organisational performance, and manage portfolios aligned to strategic goals.
RISK MANAGEMENT
The STADIO BCom Honours degree with a major in Risk Management equips you with advanced knowledge of risk management frameworks, business intelligence, and applied risk practices. You will learn to identify, assess, and mitigate risks that impact organisations, while integrating governance, compliance, and sustainability considerations. With a strong research component, this programme develops your critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling you to manage uncertainty in a volatile business environment and prepare for senior roles in risk analysis, compliance, and strategic decision-making.
Entry Requirements
THE ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR THE BACHELOR OF COMMERCE ARE:

Senior Certificate (SC) with degree endorsement and a minimum symbol of E in Mathematics HG, or D in Mathematics SG; OR
-
A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 50% in four 20-credit subjects, and a minimum of 40% in English Home Language or First Additional Language, and a minimum of 40% in Mathematics or 60% in Mathematical Literacy; OR
-
A National Senior Certificate – Vocational Level 4 (NC(V)) with a minimum of 60% in three fundamental subjects including English and Mathematics; and minimum 70% in four vocational subjects; OR
-
A National N Diploma in the field of Business, Commerce or Management. Students admitted via this option will be registered for the mathematics academic support module in their first semester; OR
-
A cognate Higher Certificate (NQF Level 5), Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 6), or Diploma (NQF Level 6); OR
-
A non-cognate Higher Certificate (NQF Level 5), Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 6), or Diploma (NQF Level 6), together with either:
-
a minimum of 40% in English Home Language or English First Additional Language, and a minimum of 40% in Mathematics or 60% in Mathematical Literacy at NSC level; or
-
evidence of equivalent proficiency in English and Mathematics achieved in the non-cognate programme.

Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for Mathematics but who have degree endorsement, will be conditionally admitted and registered for the mathematics academic support module in their first semester.
