The title of Emerging Research Academic, is awarded to a candidate who has

  • A completed Master’s degree;

  • Published at least four accredited research outputs; and

  • Published two accredited research outputs in the last three years

ROWAN THOMPSON has attained the STADIO status of Emerging Research Academic. He has published five book chapters and one accredited article in the last three years.

Research Focus:

His work involves increasing the footprint and integration of technology education in teacher training and national curricula. His current PhD research is investigating the implementation of computer aided design in our BEd Intermediate Phase and Higher Certificate end-user computer courses. Rowan is also involved in implementing robotics and coding as part of our Foundation Phase programme. He intends to research the impact of this as an extension of his PhD work in the coming years.
