COURSE OVERVIEW

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is aimed at students in the private and public sectors who are or will be responsible for managing people, resources and/or projects, portfolios, disaster risk reduction, logistics, advertising and promotions, to name but a few.

The structure of the Bachelor of Business Administration enables candidates to select the field of specialisation that meets the roles and responsibilities required by a range of industries in the private and public sectors.

 

FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

Successful completion enables further studies towards the Bachelor of Business Administration Honours on NQF level 8 or another honours qualification in a cognate field.

Entry Requirements

THE ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR THE BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ARE:

 

  • a Senior Certificate (SC) with degree endorsement; or

  • a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 50% in four 20-credit subjects and a minimum of 40% in English Home Language or First Additional Language; or

  • a National Senior Certificate – Vocational Level 4 (NC(V)) with a minimum of 50% in three fundamental subjects including English; and minimum 60% in four vocational subjects; or
  • a STADIO Certificate; or

  • a STADIO Higher Certificate in Management; or

  • a STADIO Higher Certificate in Paralegal Studies; or

  • a STADIO Diploma in Management; or

  • a relevant N6 National Diploma

  • 25 points over 5 modules

 

STADIO is committed to achieving inclusion and to overcome barriers to access and success in higher education. Applicants who do not meet the stated admission criteria, but who have relevant work experience and/or prior learning may apply for admission under the policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). STADIO admits a maximum of 10% per cohort via RPL.       Compulsory modules form the core competencies that are required for variations of the Bachelor of Business Administration programme. Regardless of your choice of major elective, all the modules in the compulsory list above must be taken.

       

      Major elective modules enable students to select modules according to their field of interest or specialisation. Major elective modules are taken from first year level up to third year level and shape the nature of the degree (e.g. Human Resource Management I, II and III).

      IMPORTANT TO NOTE WHEN SELECTING YOUR MAJOR ELECTIVE:

      (a) When you select Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management, Logistics Management or Marketing Management as a major elective subject, Economics IIA - Microeconomics (ECO20A) and Economics IIB - Macroeconomics (ECO20B) as well as Financial Management (FMA101) will be compulsory.

      (b) When you select Disaster Risk Reduction or Public Sector Management as a major elective, Governmental Economics IIA (DEC20A) and Development Economics (DEC20B), as well as Public Sector Financial Management (PFB101) will be compulsory.

      (c) When you select Human Resources Management as your major elective subject, Labour Law I (LLA101) is compulsory.

      (d) When you select Human Resources Management or Project Management as a major elective subject, you can choose one of the following options:

      Option 1:
      • Economics IIA - Microeconomics (ECO20A), Economics IIB - Macroeconomics (ECO20B) and Financial Management (FMA101)
      Option 2:
      • Governmental Economics IIA (DEC20A), Development Economics (DEC20B) and Public Sector Financial Management (PFB101)

      (e) When you select any other major elective subject, Business Law (BLA101) is compulsory.
