The School of Architecture and Spatial Design (SOAASD) at STADIO have dedicated their time in 2021 to the development and production of short learning programmes (SLP’s) to provide students and professionals opportunities to improve their skills in the fields of Architecture and Spatial Design and to earn CPD credits.

The following SLP’s  have been developed to date:

These short learning programmes cover various topics, from the theories involved in spatial design to understanding the value of the landscape. When applied in practice, this knowledge can contribute to the creation of user-friendly and human-centred spaces.

The most popular course to date has been the ‘How to Freehand Architectural Presentations’ which covers topics on drawing tools, the  fundamentals of observation drawing, adding human figures, cars, and  trees to drawings and how to create that x-factor image using  low-tech and freehand drawing techniques. This course has been exceptionally in demand amongst professionals keen to update their skills and students seeking a head start in their careers.

The newest addition the list of SLPs by the SOAASD is the ‘How to Conceptualise a Design Portfolio: Entry Level’ short course which  introduces participants to the process of design thinking and demonstrates  how this approach can be applied to the creation of their first portfolio. This course is aimed at students and young adults considering architecture or design as a profession and who are busy with the application and portfolio process. It is designed to aid learners, with limited design education, on how to creatively approach the curation of their portfolio.

The SLP’s are presented online and put together in such a way that it can be completed in the participant’s own time over a few weeks. This time commitment varies depending on the course and includes working through the course content and completing activities that encourages the application of the content covered. These SLP’s have been designed with the student in mind and are affordable, easy to work through, add value to a CV and portfolio and allow participants to cultivate and improve the various skills associated within architectural and spatial design professions.
